The mean increase in the duration of erectile function in the sildenafil group was 5.3 (range, 0.8 to 14.7) and mean ejaculation frequency in the placebo group was 1.6 (range, 0.4 to 12.5).
Patients in the sildenafil group were monitored for improvements in their ability to achieve and maintain an erection during sex, as well as in their sexual satisfaction, compared to placebo.
Sildenafil was well tolerated in the study, with a very low incidence of side effects.
Overall, the study found no significant association between sildenafil and sexual arousal, duration of sexual intercourse, and ejaculation.
